Every spring, the Van Stadens Wildflower Reserve comes alive with a colourful celebration of flowers, culture, and community. This annual event has become a highlight of the season, offering indigenous plants for sale at excellent prices.
There is something for everyone, from nature and adventure enthusiasts to families looking for a day of fun. Held each year, the event has grown into a beloved tradition, welcoming visitors of all ages to experience the beauty and diversity of the Reserve – and take home a little piece of it for your garden!

Guided Storytelling Walking Tours – Day Visitors
R150 per guide | Maximum 15 people per guide
Our Guided Storytelling Walks place storytelling at the very heart of the experience. Led by our Conservation Interns, these walks are an opportunity to hear the Reserve’s stories — from the unique adaptations of its plants and animals to cultural insights and personal reflections shaped by time spent in nature. They are not formal guided tours, but rather an invitation to learn through stories, encouraging curiosity and deeper appreciation for the biodiversity around you.
Each tour is tailored to your group’s needs, with a range of trails varying in distance and difficulty. Walks typically begin with a short briefing at the Flower House, where you can enjoy a seasonal display of freshly cut flowers from the Reserve — offering a glimpse of what’s currently in bloom. From there, you’ll head out on a 1 to 2-hour guided storytelling walk along our well-marked, Green Flag accredited trails.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Nature Champions
At FOVS, we are passionate about creating enriching outdoor learning experiences that foster a deep connection to nature. Our guided school walks are tailored to learners of all ages—from pre-primary to secondary—offering meaningful, hands-on adventures in the heart of the Wildflower Reserve.
Led by our dedicated Conservation Interns—who are continuously developing their skills through guided walk training and internal assessments—these school outings are interactive journeys filled with storytelling, exploration, and discovery. Many schools have already joined us, and we’re excited to welcome yours!
What to expect on your school visit:
- Flower House Discussion: Interns will guide children in identifying cut plants currently in bloom within the Reserve.
- Guided Nature Walks: With a variety of well-marked, Green Flag accredited trails ranging in distance and difficulty, each walk can be tailored to suit the group’s age and energy levels.
- Nursery Activity: Learners will plant cuttings into trays to help grow future plants for the Reserve’s indigenous nursery.
- Dedicated Guides: Two friendly and knowledgeable Conservation Interns will guide each group throughout the experience.

- Tour Times: Monday to Saturday, 08h30 – 15h00
- Entry Fee: None .
- Cost: R150.00 per group of up to 15 students (per guide)
- Ample parking space is available for buses
- Refreshments: Cold drinks and snacks available at the Flower House Tuckshop (weekends & public holidays only)
