No, entry to the Van Stadens Wildflower Reserve is free for all visitors.

Yes, guided storytelling walking tours for day visitors and school groups are available by experienced local guides, offering insights into the Wildflower Reserve’s flora and fauna.

  • Day Visitors: R150 per guide (maximum 15 people per guide).
  • School Groups: R150 per group of up to 15 students, per guide

Pets are unfortunately NOT ALLOWED within the nature reserve in order to protect the natural wildlife and plant species.

It is a global standard for hiking and walking trails, designed to assess and certify the quality, safety, and sustainability of trails. Managed by the World Trails Network (WTN), this certification promotes best practices in trail management and enhances the overall hiking experience.

Yes, there are clean and accessible bathroom facilities available for day visitors, located behind the Flower House.

There are also two separate pit latrines located within the Reserve.

The Van Stadens Wildflower Reserve is South Africa’s second oldest nature reserve and was originally proclaimed a protected area and a Wildflower Reserve and Bird Sanctuary in 1951. 

Yes, there is a tuck shop run by the Conservation Interns situated at the Flower House, (available only on weekends and public holidays). The tuck shop offers cold drinks, water, snacks, firewood, and firelighters. It accepts both cash and card payments.

For a comfortable hiking experience, we recommend bringing water, sturdy footwear, sun protection (especially a hat), weather-appropriate clothing, snacks, and a trail map (ask one of the Interns for a free brochure where you will find a well-marked map. Remember to respect the environment and leave no trace behind. Happy hiking!

Yes, designated picnic areas are offered and are equipped with tables and benches, providing the perfect setting for a relaxing outdoor experience amidst nature. 

Visitors are welcome to bring their own food and beverages to enjoy during their visit. Please remember to take all your waste home and dispose of it responsibly with respect for the natural environment.
